Elk River Tire & Auto

Summer has arrived with warm (and rising) temperatures. If you haven't done so already, be sure to have the appropriate automotive service performed at the recommended interval. It will not only potentially save you $$$ in automotive repair expense, it can literally be a lifesaver in hot conditions on a long summer road trip.

Take care of these five automotive service items before heading down the road:

  1. Oil Change – If your vehicle is due for an oil change while on the road, have it taken care of before your trip. Make sure to change the filter too, as well check the other fluids and filters (coolant, brake, and transmission). If necessary, they should be refreshed and the filters changed.
  2. Brake Inspection – Check the condition of the brake rotors, pads, and calipers. If the pads and rotors appear warped, cracked or too thin, schedule a brake repair for safety on the road.
  3. Working Lights – Make sure all the exterior and interior lights are working properly. Bulbs cost only a few dollars and some are fairly easy to install yourself. Or have your mechanic replace them at your scheduled automotive repair for other issues.
  4. Windshield and Wipers – Windshield wipers in good condition and a full washer fluid reservoir will make sure you are ready for a sudden summer rainstorm. Don't start out with a cracked windshield—it will only get worse. Has it replaced so the safety of your passenger cabin is not compromised?
  5. Check the Tires – If necessary, have a tire rotation, wheel alignment or wheel balancing has taken care of before your trip. Make sure your tires have the right inflation pressure. This will keep your ride smoother and more comfortable. Don't forget to check the spare too!

The Benefits of Quality Automotive Service are:

  • Enhances the safety of you, your passengers, and other motorists
  • Increases increase gas mileage
  • Provides a smoother running vehicle
  • Ensures your vehicle will come to a stop quickly.
